What Is BetGuard?

BetGuard is iGaming Ontario’s centralized self-exclusion portal. It launched on May 14, 2026, according to iGaming Ontario’s announcement. That was the same day the AGCO’s new centralized self-exclusion standard (Standard 2.14.1 of the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming) took effect, as noted in the AGCO news release. iGaming Ontario selected Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360) and IXUP (now DataWorks Group) to build the platform, as announced by IC360.

Registering through BetGuard notifies every regulated igaming site in Ontario operating through iGaming Ontario, including OLG’s online gaming platforms where applicable, that a player has opted out. This removes the previous requirement to self-exclude separately with each operator.

Who Can Register for BetGuard?

Registration is open to anyone aged 19 or older who can provide:

A valid government-issued photo ID
A permanent Canadian or U.S. address
A working cellphone number
An email address

An existing account with an Ontario gambling operator is not required to register. A common misconception is that self-exclusion tools only work once someone already holds an account; BetGuard is designed to work independently of that.
